Dave's Tackle Box - Sunday 114th March 2012
This week, I'll be talking to Dave Dorn about some interesting developments in the e-cig world, or should I say “new variant inhalation devices which will exist under the medicines regulatory framework as a smoking cessation devlice / drug” world?

Wonder what I'm on about? Tune in - Sunday at 9pm GMT.

Re: Dave's Tackle Box - Sunday 114th March 2012
Hi Dave and Dave, great show. Just one question, because it is good to know the enemy: Do you know, who gets the most money on the smoking of cigarettes?

a) the tobacco industry
b) the State budget
c) the pharma industry

Some facts from Germany: A package of cigarettes costs 5 Euro.
- 85 Cents are for the tabacco industry,
- 4,15 Euro are for the State budget. Another aspect: By reducing the life expectancy smoking has significantly mitigating effect on the pension system.
- The pharma industry is selling nicotine patches, gums ect. in the amount of 3 billion €/year. The pharma industry sells also products, services and devices to treat diseases caused by smoking (17 billion Euro/year).

Sorry because of my bloody english! Yours Fippes

In the UK, the government makes the most money on a pack of cigarettes - but we've also discovered that tobacco companies. like BAT, also have a stakeholding in Big Pharma companies - One hasa 20% stake in a pharma company. Go figure!
